While wildflowers fade across the open fields, camellias bloom on the hillsides. In early winter, the oil-tea camellia industrial park in Hongyang Village, Qiping Town, Cangxi County, Sichuan, is dotted with blossoming camellias, their white petals resembling scattered snow or jade. "On sunny days, hundreds of visitors come here to enjoy the flowers and take pictures," said Wu Daiyong, Party secretary of Hongyang Village.

The once barren hilltop land had proven unsuitable for various crops attempted by villagers. In 2019, inspired by a visit to oil-tea camellia producing regions like Guangxi, Wu Daiyong recognized the crop’s potential—its tolerance for poor soil, drought resistance, and promising returns. This led to the decision to cultivate it locally. By year-end, over 40,000 oil-tea camellia saplings had been planted across the once idle hills.

After four years of careful cultivation, the trees now display the remarkable phenomenon of "blossoms and fruits coexisting on the same tree." The first harvest yielded fresh berries bringing in 3,000 RMB per mu. To date, nearly 900 mu of oil-tea camellia have been planted across Hongyang and neighboring villages.

Additionally, a fresh berry drying workshop was established in the village, and deep-processing enterprises were introduced. A range of premium products, such as "Special-Press Tea Oil" and "Refined Tea Oil," has been developed under the registered trademark "Hongbaoliangshan." With their pure quality and strong reputation, Hongyang’s oil-tea camellia products have reached markets beyond the local mountains, gaining a loyal customer base and generating annual revenues exceeding 3 million RMB. What were once abandoned fields and low-yield woodlands in Hongyang have now been transformed into "fields of hope" driving sustainable income growth.

       四川苍溪：摞荒地里种出致富树 

旷野芳菲尽，岭上茶花开。初冬时节，步入四川省苍溪县歧坪镇红杨村油茶产业园，朵朵油茶花竞相绽放，星星点点如雪似玉。“天气晴好时候，一天有好几百人前来赏花、拍照打卡。”红杨村党支部书记吴代永说。

这片山顶土地土壤贫瘠，曾经村民们尝试种植各种农作物，均以失败告终。2019年，吴代永带领村民们远赴广西等油茶产地考察，最终发现油茶耐贫瘠、抗旱性强、收益可观的特点，这让他拿定了种植油茶的主意。当年年底，4万余株油茶苗便在当地荒山上扎下了根。

四年辛勤耕耘，茶园里终于出现“花果同树”的奇景，首年挂果便实现鲜果3000元/亩的收益。截至目前，红杨村及周边村庄已种植油茶面积近900亩。

此外，红杨村还建起鲜果烘干车间，引进精深加工企业，开发出“特榨茶油”“精装茶油”等系列精品，注册“红宝梁山”食用茶油商标。红杨油茶凭借纯正品质与良好口碑走出大山，赢得大批回头客，年均收益超300万元。红杨村曾经的撂荒地、低效林，如今都变成了增收“希望田”。
