Midsummer is harvest season for silkworm farmers. Right now, the sericulture industry in Jinghong Village, Yuanba Town, Cangxi County, Sichuan Province, is hitting its peak. With stable yields, better quality and brisk sales at good prices, the industry is bringing villagers jobs close to home and steadily growing the village"s collective income — weaving a distinctive “new Silk Road” of prosperity for rural revitalization.

Step inside the rearing base of the Jinghong Village Sericulture Specialized Cooperative, and you will find clean, well-kept standardized rearing rooms. On the checkerboard-style cocooning frames, plump, snow-white cocoons are piled in neat layers — even in color and fine in silk quality. Villagers work in orderly teams, skillfully picking, sorting and transporting the cocoons — a busy yet orderly harvest scene.

“The silkworm business in our village has really taken off these years,” says Yang Yongshen, a local villager. “Every cocoon season, we come here to pick and sort cocoons. It pays steadily, and there"s no need to travel far for work — we can earn good money right at our doorstep.”

Since 2020, Jinghong Village has built its signature sericulture industry on idle local woodland. The village set up a specialized cooperative, turned more than 500 mu (about 33 hectares) of abandoned orchard land into mulberry fields, and built 5,000 square meters of standardized rearing rooms — creating a win-win-win model that benefits the village collective, shareholder farmers and local workers alike. In the first half of 2026, the village raised silkworms from 300 zhang (standard sheets of silkworm eggs), generating over 800,000 yuan in revenue.

“Our summer cocoons brought a bumper harvest this year, with both quality and output on the rise, and the returns have been remarkable,” says Yang Hong, the village"s Party secretary and head of the villagers" committee. He adds that the next step is to keep improving mulberry field management, technical training and market connections, so the sericulture industry can grow bigger and stronger — bringing more villagers jobs near home and stable incomes, expanding the collective economy, and truly turning tiny silkworms into a big industry that powers the village"s revitalization.

四川苍溪：夏蚕织就乡村振兴“新丝路”

盛夏时节，蚕桑丰收正浓。眼下，四川省苍溪县元坝镇井红村蚕桑产业进入丰产期，全镇蚕桑产业稳产提质、优价热销，持续带动村民就近务工、村集体经济稳步增收，为乡村振兴铺就特色富民“新丝路”。 

走进元坝镇井红村蚕桑专业合作社养殖基地，整洁规范的标准化蚕房内，方格蔟上雪白圆润的蚕茧层层堆叠、成色均匀、丝质上乘。村民们分工有序、熟练作业，忙着采摘、分拣、转运蚕茧，现场一派繁忙有序的丰收景象。

“这些年村上的养蚕产业发展得很好，每次收茧的时候我们都到这里来摘茧、分茧，每天都有稳定的收入，不用外出奔波，在家门口都能挣到轻松钱。”元坝镇井红村村民杨永申说。

自2020年以来，井红村立足本土林地闲置资源，深耕蚕桑特色产业，成立蚕桑专业合作社，盘活村内撂荒果园地种植桑树500余亩，建成5000平方米标准化养殖蚕房，构建起村集体、入股农户、务工群众三方共赢的良好发展格局。2026年上半年饲养蚕丝300张，收入80余万元。

“今年我们村夏茧迎来了大丰收，蚕茧品质、产量都稳中有升，产业效益十分可观。”元坝镇井红村党支部书记兼村委会主任杨鸿表示，下一步，将继续抓好桑园管护、技术推广和产销对接，持续做大做强蚕桑特色产业，带动更多村民就近就业、稳定增收，不断壮大村集体经济，真正让小蚕桑成为助推我们村乡村振兴的富民大产业。
